Assistant Director (Impact and Partnerships)

An opportunity has arisen in the Irish Research Council (IRC) for the full-time post of Assistant Director – Impact and Partnerships. This post is offered on a fixed-term basis and is graded at Assistant Principal level in the public service.

The post-holder will lead the implementation of the IRC’s strategic actions in the broad areas of impact and partnerships. This will include progressing the IRC’s capacity in respect of the collection and dissemination of evidence, data and outcomes for the research it funds. In addition, the successful candidate will support a diverse range of Council programmatic partnerships, nationally and internationally, and develop new opportunities in this regard. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, highly motivated and highly analytical individual to put their own stamp on a critical part of the Council’s agenda. The post-holder will have a track record of achievement in their career to-date, including in driving strategic change and new development.

This post reports to the Director of the IRC, and the post-holder will work closely with the Assistant Director (Programmes and Resources).

The Council operates under the aegis of the the Higher Education Authority (HEA), and recruitment for the post is via the HEA’s competition to fill a number of posts at Assistant Principal grade.

A panel lasting 24 months will be established to fill any further permanent or fixed-term contract posts in either the HEA or the Irish Research Council which may arise over the period.

The post is a senior managerial grade in the HEA/IRC and is a critical post in terms of ensuring quality service to the HEA/IRC and its key stakeholders. Ideal candidates will be experienced managers, with high levels of energy, drive, resilience and motivation and the proven ability to deliver objectives.
